about

No, not an album, just two (very) short songs.

'Jane' is written for my old Toy Love bandmate, Jane Walker, and recounts visiting her in Camden, London in 2010.

Thanks to the Nashville crew, Matt Swanson: bass guitar and Tony Crow: keyboards.

Both songs started as demos, hence I didn't take much care when recording them. They were greatly improved when Matt and Tony added their parts making them worth sharing with you folk.

Recorded June/July 2019 in Christchurch NZ and Nashville USA
Cover illustration of Jane by Emma Bathgate
Mixed and Mastered by Tom Havard at Sublime Studio, Kurow, North Otago

Hi-res downloads are 48kHz/24-bit

Jane
It must be around here somewhere?
Jane said, 'come up from the underground, you'll see a sign, then take a right, that's where I'm at now'
And goodness me, it's hard to believe
How we look now
And how we turned out
Like people we once laughed about

John
John, why are you standing in the rain?
Are you thinking of someone you once knew?
And now they're gone you miss them more than when they were here
Now they're gone you're thinking of when they were just two steps away
And you could pick up the phone to call but there's no-one there
But still you pick up the phone now
Aah, aah, aah

Both songs written by Alec Bathgate
